An excellent way to use up leftover fruits and berries is to make a smoothie! Smoothies are a great way of cramming in your recommended daily fruits and vegetables whilst making them taste and look great.
Here is my three B’s smoothie: blackberries, blueberries and banana.
Here’s the recipe:
1 medium banana
1 cup blueberries
1 cup blackberries
1 tsp maca
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
Top with coconut, chia seeds and raw cacao.
Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Enjoy!
Why do I use almond milk?
Almond milk is totally vegan friendly and dairy free. Dairy milk contains lactose which can disagree with your digestive system, making you feel uncomfortable and bloated. Almond milk instead is lower in calories than regular milk, it is free from cholesterol and saturated fat and it’s full of calcium and Vitamin D. Almond milk also contains Vitamin E which contains antioxidant properties to maintain your skins glow and help protect against sun damage. It aids healthy digestion, has a low glycemic index to prevent blood sugar spikes and it doesn’t even require refrigeration! Better than this, you can even make your own almond milk by blending almonds with water. A cheaper and super healthy alternative!
