I know we all love chocolate spread, or a nutty chocolate spread bought in a jar from the supermarket, but have you ever thought of making your own? It is a lot easier thank you think! Trust me. This recipe is my Chocolate Nutty Spread. It can be spread onto wholegrain bread, added to a bowl of berries or even used as a topping on desserts, porridge or pancakes. Delicious!
This recipe includes almonds to provide the nutty richness and taste. Almonds are packed full of heart healthy benefits. They are full of healthy fats, like the kind found in olive oil, which have been associated with a lowering of the risk of heart disease.
The recipe also include raw cacao powder. Did you know raw cacao powder contains a greater amount of antioxidants than blueberries? Raw cacao powder is the unrefined version of cocoa powder which means it has not been stripped of any nutritional value. Raw cacao powder can also act as an appetite suppressant and can improve digestion.

You will need:
200g pitted dates
1.5 tbsp raw cacao powder
100ml almond milk
1 tbsp raw coconut oil (the melt)
1. Blend the almonds until they are ground into fine crumbs
2. Add to a food processor (I use a Nutribullet) the dates, milk, cacao powder & almonds and blend until sticky
3. Add in the melted coconut oil and blend until smooth
4. Spoon spread into a glass jar or container and store in the fridge for up to two weeks!
