Weekly favourites #2

Hey everyone! So I am back this week with more of my favourite, must-have products. I have been loving all of these foods and ingredients this week and they’re great for anyone looking to lead a healthier lifestyle!

1: Organic Detox Mix  

A little while ago I stumbled across this fabulous new website called Vivo Life and I have been totally loving with it since. They are a great one stop-shop for all of your favourite healthy, organic and natural products, from superfood powders, natural protein powders to beauty products and skincare. I got this Organic Detox Mix from their site and it contains a blend of alkalising greens, detoxifying herbs and zeolite clay to effectively cleanse and detoxify your system. I have been adding this to my smoothies and was really surprised when I found it actually tasted okay! In fact, you can barely taste it. Sometimes green powders can be a bit too potent, and if I’m honest, they can smell and taste like grass, but I added a teaspoon of this to my smoothies and they were delicious!

2: Black Chia Seeds  

Next up are these little seeds of goodness. You can probably all tell that I love using chia seeds in my baking and cooking, especially when added to a breakfast recipe. I love making a simple chia pudding by adding 1-2tbsp of chia seeds with 2-4tbsp of water, leaving them to thicken for about 30mins in the fridge, then I add in some coconut yoghurt, almond milk and goji berries! It’s the best combination! Chia seeds are full of fibre and that is great for helping to get rid of any toxic build up in your insides. They have five times more calcium than milk, so they’re great for vegans.

  3: Smooth Almond Butter

Now this item needs little explanation… but perhaps I should just ask you not to judge me on the size of this tub! Yes, it is a TUB of smooth almond butter! You cannot begin to understand how restrained I’ve had to be now I’ve got this. I could quite easily dunk a tablespoon in there and scoff half the pot in under 30 minutes! But I actually love having this as an afternoon snack. What I do (basically every day!) is dunk three or four medjool dates in this almond butter at around 3/4pm when I am craving something naughty, and this totally does the trick! It’s so filling as dates contain so much fibre and the almond butter contains healthy fats to keep your body nourished. Enjoy!

  4: Activated Raw Chocolate Almond

“Activated” nuts are something I have heard of in passing, but I’ve never actually eaten them before, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Plus I obviously couldn’t resist them as they were coated in chocolate. So “activating” nuts refers to the process of soaking, sprouting and fermenting that is carried out to enhance their digestibility and nutrient availability, as would happen when nuts drop to the forest floor in nature. These activated chocolate almonds really were something special. They were so soft and so easy to munch on, perhaps a little to easy, oopsie!… but they tasted delicious and really gave you that chocolate fix that you crave.   5: Organic Activated Raw Buckwheat Groats

I have always been a fan of buckwheat. In fact, buckwheat isn’t a “wheat” at all, but instead a seed. Buckwheat is a great source of plant protein (great for vegans) and it’s actually gluten-free, so it’s easily digestible! I really enjoy sprinkling some buckwheat groats over smoothie bowls or porridge in the morning to give it a crunchy texture, with almost a nutty taste. You can get these buckwheat groats here!

    6: Flax Pumpkin Crackers 

My final favourite product this week are these flax pumpkin crackers! My body has never been great with bread, and eating bread often leaves me feeling puffy and bloated, so these crackers were perfect for me. I love spreading hummus or some kind of salsa over them and enjoying them as a snack, or even as a side to a lunch dish. You can also crush the crackers slighty and crumble them over a soup or a salad, yummy! These crackers are made with 100% raw ingredients which is pretty great. I love knowing that nothing but great, natural and wholesome ingredients have been added to the foods that I eat, so that’s one of the reasons I love them!

  2. Brilliant post, Charlotte. I love getting ideas of new brands to try from you! Meridian is an absolute fave, dates and almond butter is a match made in heaven. Would you ever consider writing a post on how you find these lovely, healthy ingredients without breaking the bank? Honestly, I’ve wanted to try chia seeds since FOREVER, but I cannot justify spending £15 for a small sachet which is how much they seem to be in health food shops (and online?). Your help would be greatly appreciated! Rosie xx
